Couples often ask where the best place to have a destination wedding would be. The Caribbean ranks amongst some of the top choices! And, a favourite of many brides is The Bahamas. This is primarily because you can have your wedding and honeymoon in the same location.

There are 700 different islands in the Bahamas to select from. So regardless of which one you choose, you will have an unforgettable wedding. The food and the people in The Bahamas are lovely and friendly and their culture dates back many years. The people are very nice and you had better believe you will have a time of your life!

Bahamas weddings are the incredible and memorable and there are quite a few of popular islands to get hitched on.

A popular island for a Bahamas wedding is The Abocos. Abaco Beach Resort and boat Harbor is located about seven miles from the Marsh Harbor Airport and Treasure Cay is only about 25 miles away. This island is popular because of all of the activities that you can do, such as snorkeling, tennis courts, fitness rooms, and it has its own private beach. This island features room service, non-smoking rooms, kitchenette, meeting rooms, restaurant, swimming pool, fitness center, and family rooms.

This island features room service, non-smoking rooms, kitchenette, meeting rooms, restaurant, swimming pool, fitness center, and family rooms.

Eleuthera Island has Coral Sands Hotel, which is located approximately a mile from the islands of Eleuthera and about 20-mile flight from Nassau. This is a popular island to have a Bahamas wedding because there is horseback riding along the beach, scuba instruction, and there are car, bicycle, and golf cart rentals. This package features: On beach, resort, swimming pool, non-smoking rooms, restaurant, meeting rooms, and a business center.

There are plenty of popular venues/hotels/resorts for a Bahamas wedding. Here are the most popular hotels on the most popular islands: Nassau- For a great Bahamas Wedding, Nassau Palm Hotel would be wonderful. The hotel is located downtown Nassau. The Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island is a ferry ride from princess Goarges Wharf. The style is layed back. The cost of this package is one of the lowest at $104.00. Grand Bahamas- Hotel/Resort for a Bahamas wedding is the Radisson Our Lucava resort. It has beautiful scenery and it has a casino. Even thought the style is high class there are packages starting as low as $200.00. Out Islands, The last popular resort/hotel to have a wonderful Bahamas wedding is at the February Point Resort. Through the summer, you can book for as little as $500.00. The style is perfect as it is remote and private.

The advantages of having a wonderful Bahamas wedding are that you will have a beautiful and memorable wedding on a great island of your choice; you can have the whole wedding taken care of and be in a beautiful location for your honeymoon.

The main downside to a Bahamas wedding is that your family might not be able to attend. Not everyone can afford to fly to the Bahamas even for a wedding. Cost may also be a factor in planning your Bahamas wedding, as some resorts are quite expensive and difficult to book.

No matter what, if you choose any of the islands to have a great and wonderful Bahamas wedding you will have the time of your life. You will enjoy the culture, food, and people at your Bahamas wedding.

Wedding trends for this year are being highly influenced by the American economy . As a result of the uncertain financial climate, couples are opting to have smaller and less expensive weddings. There are many ways to cut down on wedding expenses that do not include cutting out the magical appeal and and white-wedding dream.

Vintage is in this year, which means you can save a tonne of money by wearing your mothers or grandmothers dress. It may have been a classic dress that can be re-used easily with some new jewelry, shoes or other accents and accessories. Having a Caribbean wedding is a fabulous way to save money and you can take that vintage dress and cut it to a length that is more suitable for the Caribbean climate, tie a bright coloured sash around the waste – and voila you have a new & improved “Caribbean” style wedding dress.

Another way to get to that amazing Caribbean wedding that you’ve always wanted is to consider cutting down on the number of guests. Food & drinks are a big cost in a wedding and the less you have to feed the less you will spend. Try sparkling wine rather than expensive champagne. The only difference in most cases is that Champagne is made in France whereas the other bubbly’s are made in another country and cannot be called ‘champagne’. Find out if that resort or hotel of your Caribbean wedding will allow you to bring in your own alcohol, or even better, find out if you can have the reception at the beach picnic area!

Another popular wedding trend this year is colour. This works perfectly with a Caribbean wedding theme. You’ll have a natural backdrop of turquoise seas and clear blue skies and a lot of tropical flowers . A simple white wedding dress, and a bright colourful embroidered trim, beading or colourful sashes can be added easily. With a Caribean wedding it’s easily to try a classy, informal, off the shoulder dress. If you are looking to save money and not be too formal the vintage dress cut short may be a good choice.

If you have someone artistic in your family see if they can help with some low cost decorations. Keep in mind you want wedding favors that suit your colorful theme. Simple and cost effective works best! Find some shells & rocks and have them polished to put on the tables. Use sand and bamboo plants for added decoration. If you cannot find all these items try a local beach wedding shop when you get there so you don’t have to pack anything. You’ll probably easily find everything you need to decorate on the shores of the local beach.

Many Caribbean destination brides are becoming adventurous with their use of color and are moving away from traditional pastel colors to brighter, bolder ones. Hues that you find in some of your favourite jewels such as sapphire, ruby, emerald, and aquamarine are just a few of the many choices you have. Who would have though that when he asked you to marry him with a diamond, you’d be choosing sapphire or emerald…for your wedding colors?

To have your perfect wedding without blowing your budget, try doing your own shopping for accessories instead of having your decorator do it for you. In fact, most of the fun in planning a wedding is accessorizing just the way you want! Use a coordinator to help you put your ideas together, but make sure that you get most of your own ideas in so that your wedding day is just as you dreamed it would be. Here’s how you can bring jewel tones into your special day:

Invitations: Your invitation is the first glimpse into your wedding for your guests, so choose carefully! Color combinations such as different blues, greens, and pinks with rich accents create a stunning effect. One way to do this is to select a main color for the invitation pocket. And, for an elegant touch, try a metallic accent. Add the accent color on the inside of the invitation and use the actual invitation paper outside. To finish up, seal the invitation with a jewel or glamourous ribbon. Another option to this is Indian-styled scroll invitations that arrive, not an ordinary envelope, but a box!

Setting: Whether you’re planning a beach wedding or a wedding inside, be sure to capture some natural aspects of the lush and tropical surroundings by bringing more green into your bouquets and head table. If you’re having a formal indoor wedding, use ficus plants and cover the pots with your wedding color. Add some intimacy by decorating the plants with fairy lights. If you’re having your wedding outdoors, create a stunning ‘enchanted’ garden by hanging colored Chinese lanterns that match with your theme. Hang white lanterns and colored light bulbs for softness and true romance.

Cuisine: An exciting aspect of having a Caribbean destination wedding is being able to use food from a culture that’s not your own! You can use a colorful blend of Chinese, Indian, and Creole dishes, or even some Mediterranean cuisine for a nice addition to your menu. Some simply irresistible and eye-catching finger foods include samosas, seafood kebabs, spring rolls, jerk pork, and prawns.

Dress: A Caribbean Destination wedding allows a bride to choose colors and experiment with unique combinations without being limited by seasons. Chocolate brown as an accent color is a real favorite, and fresh, bright colors such as pink, tangerine, and aqua are also becoming very popular. Borrow from the Caribbean’s diverse cultural heritage by using bold colours and heavy beading wherever you can on your gown and other wedding attire. For instance, Eastern-inspired looks such as sari-style dresses with intricate beading will surely give exotic allure to your bridal party. And, if your bridal party is made up of different ethnicities, it’s a great idea to use color combinations that will enhance each member’s skin tone and complexion. Remember to think about your favorite jewels and choose the colors that you love!

Isle Do encourages all of their brides-to-be to research their wedding vendors carefully, get referrals, opinions and feedback from friends and past brides. Be sure to use the free tools such as a budget calculator and free wedding website that can help you to bring your wedding planning to life and keep you on track.
